Katy ISD Breaks Ground on New High School

S&P and PBK celebrated the commencement of the new Katy ISD High School #9 with a groundbreaking ceremony honoring the achievement. Officials with the District broke ground on the site that shares the new high school and new junior high school. The complex is being completed in the Cross Creek Ranch subdivision to deal with explosive population growth in the district’s southwest quadrant and relieve overcrowding in some nearby campuses.

Sam Houston MSTC Tops Out

The Sam Houston MSTC project team celebrated a milestone with a topping out ceremony, complete with the school’s Mariachis! The ceremony recognizes completing the installation of all tilt-walls, roofing, and structural steel decking. Work on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system, is ongoing. Crews also are working on interior fireproofing and drywall installation. The S&P team shared a barbecue lunch with subcontractors and district staff and signed the final steel beam to commemorate the event.

Madison High School Celebrates Topping Out

Satterfield & Pontikes Construction hosted a “topping out” ceremony of the new Madison High School, signifying the success of completing the exterior structure of the new school. The celebration included signing the last steel beam, as well as a barbecue lunch and door prizes for the subcontractors working on the project. Madison is among 40 schools being renovated or rebuilt as part of the 2012 Bond Program. The $94 million project calls for a new two-story school that will span 265,000 square feet and accommodate 1,900 to 2,100 students. Phase I will be completed in December, followed by the demolition of the existing facility.

S&P to Rebuild Four Harvey-Damaged Schools

The Houston Independent School District Board of Education on Thursday approved a construction contract to Satterfield & Pontikes for the rebuilding of four elementary schools — Braeburn, Scarborough, Kolter, and Mitchell — severely damaged by Hurricane Harvey. The schools will be rebuilt at their current sites after facilities assessments found significant property damage, as well as a strong need to raise the elevation of the buildings to prevent potential future flood damage.

Nora’s Home Golf Classic Raises Record Amount

Satterfield & Pontikes Construction (S&P) is excited to present Nora’s Home for Transplant Patients with a “big check” celebrating the success of our annual Charity Golf Classic. The 4th annual Nora’s Home Golf Classic, organized and sponsored by S&P, raised funds for the local organization that supports transplant patients and their families. This year the tournament, which attracted support and participation from a variety of local businesses, raised a record-breaking amount of $75,000.

The tournament was held at Hermann Park Golf Club in October of 2017, with XXX golfers participating.  “This tournament is a great example of our ‘Do the Right Thing for the Right Reasons’ core value,” said George A. Pontikes, President of S&P. “Our team is dedicated to  giving back to our local communities, and providing our trade partners with opportunities to do the same.”

Pontikes Development Moving Forward with Port 10 Development

Pontikes Development, the development arm of S&P, will soon break ground on a 3 million-square-foot speculative warehouse and distribution park near Port Houston. Designed by Powers Brown architecture, the new Port 10 Logistics Center will encompass 246 acres at Interstate 10 and Thompson Road in the southeast Houston community of Baytown. The first phase of the multiphase project will deliver in the third quarter of 2018, and around 2 million SF of the project’s 3 million SF will be directly rail-served. The engineering team consists of Benchmark Engineering for Civil, LJB for Structural, and DBR for MEP.

S&P to build new Judson ISD Elementary School

The Trustees of the Judson Independent School District in San Antonio awarded the District’s new Wortham Oaks Elementary School to Satterfield & Pontikes.  S&P was selected after being judged to provide the best value to the District for the new school through a Competitive Sealed Proposal (CSP) process.  S&P has successfully delivered several projects before for Judson ISD, including the similar Rolling Meadows Elementary School.

The new, two-story Wortham Oaks Elementary has been designed by Stantec Architecture and will be 110,000 square feet.  The value of the project is over $24.5 million and work will begin almost immediately.  The District plans to have the facility in service in time for the 2018 – 2019 school year.

S&P receives Constructech Vision Award

Satterfield & Pontikes was honored by Constructech Magazine at its 18th annual construction technology Vision awards dinner last night. We were recognized as the best General Contractor utilizing technology to provide a better product to its client and Assemble Systems received recognition as the technology enabler. S&P was singled out for its use of technology to reduce the cost of projects while increasing the information and transparency provided to the client. We received the gold medal for its use of technology to address cost and schedule challenges on a critically needed facility.

The Vision Awards honor construction companies that have realized the advantages of where construction and technology converge and how they can successfully apply it to their everyday businesses.
