Waltrip High School opened in 1959 in the Oak Forest neighborhood in north Houston. The school offers a Research & Technology Magnet Program, with a goal to prepare all students to be college or career ready. The $22.6 M renovation of Waltrip High School includes the renovation and partial replacement of the 54-year-old Waltrip campus, with architecturally significant portions of the school to be retained. Waltrip is 1 of 3 Schools involved with the Houston ISD 2012 Bond Program that accommodates 1,800 – 2,000 students.
