The National World War II Museum Expansion
New Orleans, LA
Architect: Voorsanger Mathes
The Phase IV expansion of the National World War II Museum added 69,200 square feet to the facility. Built of precast concrete, glass and 30-gauge steel, Phase IV is part of a nine-phase expansion program. Highlights of the museum’s new addition include the Solomon Victory Theater, Stage Door Canteen and American Sector Restaurant. High-end components are showcased throughout, including Brazilian teak hardwood floors, chain-link welded mesh finishes and extensive use of stainless steel. The museum offers thousands of artifacts related to World War II, including vehicles, weapons, equipment and many photo, video and interactive exhibits.
