Northside High School
$44 M additions and renovations at Northside High School (formerly Jefferson Davis High School). The scope of the project includes two new additions, culinary and performing arts, along with renovations to the historic 1928 building.
The culinary arts addition, which was opened to students at the start of the 2018-2019 school year, features professional ovens, workspaces, and equipment, as well as a walk-in freezer and cooler and a flexible learning space that can be transformed into a restaurant-style dining room. The new fine arts wing includes a black box theater and TV production room.
Renovation work in the existing building focused on modernizing classrooms and labs while preserving the original building’s historic facade. New classrooms and science labs were added on the first floor, and exterior windows were replaced and additional windows installed to bring in more natural light to extended learning and hallway areas.
Work was completed in two phases, with the culinary additions and campus site renovations in one phase and the performing arts and facility renovations in the other.
