Wisdom High School Replacement
Architect: WHR / Lake Flato
New 26,000 SF high school to replace the existing facility and numerous temporary buildings on the campus. The final facility will house 1,700 to 1,900 students. The original building constructed in 1962 had developed irreparable foundation issues, water leaks, and deteriorating air conditioning and heating systems. In addition, many of the instructional spaces were substandard.
The design maximizes the use of natural light, and also features collaborative work spaces inside and outside the building. The design includes a large, naturally lighted dining commons area near the main entrance and three big open courtyards, as well as an athletic quadrant with fields, gymnasiums, a natatorium and locker rooms.
