Dallas ISD’s Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy is an early college high school specifically tailored to prepare primarily first generation college students for academic success in college and beyond.

SHW Group designed the 110,000 SF facility as a series of academic and social spaces centered around a common area. The facility provides the feel of a multiple-building campus, similar to a college, while keeping the students in a secure environment.

The two-story steel structure with brick and curtain wall exterior sits on a 10-acre site. The school includes 24 classrooms, science labs, library, administrative offices, cafeteria, kitchen with high-end appliances, tiered lecture pavilion, auditorium and amphitheater, and outdoor sports facilities. The school is a Collaborative for High Performance Schools project.
